Routes
Where to ride in Indonesia: easy starts and bigger routes
Indonesia is a country of islands, so the best route is the one that matches the island, ferry timing, and season.
Good first routes
- Easy: Sanur to Ubud, Canggu to Tanah Lot, or south Lombok coastal roads outside rush hours.
- Medium: Ubud to Kintamani, Sidemen valley, or Senggigi to Tetebatu with a clear weather window.
- Hard: Java mountain roads, Flores crossings, or volcano areas only with experience and current local advice.
Weather and season
Rain can turn village lanes and mountain corners slippery very quickly. Dry-season mornings are usually calmer than late afternoons.
First-day rule
On day one, choose a short loop with fuel, mobile signal, and a place to turn back before sunset.
